Don Iler

As a reporter, Don Iler covers state and local politics in addition to the cities of McMinnville, Lafayette, Dundee and Newberg. In his news editor capacity, he handles layout, headline and design for the Tuesday and Friday news sections. He also writes DVD reviews for the Friday Connections section.

Prior to becoming news editor in September, Iler briefly covered county government after joining the News-Register in April 2014.

Iler was raised in Bend and served for five years in the Marine Corps as an Arabic linguist. He then attended Oregon State University where he studied history and served as editor-in-chief of the student newspaper. Outside of work, Iler enjoys hiking, cooking, writing his novel, baseball and winning at pub trivia.
