NEWBERG — The Newberg Walgreens pharmacy was held up Sunday, with the lone male suspect demanding OxyContin. The pharmacy was robbed Feb. 27 of OxyContin by a suspect whose description fits the individual who pulled off the Sunday robbery. Newberg-Dundee police said they are confident the same suspect pulled off both robberies.

A Willamina man was shot in the back Saturday afternoon while he was driving a vehicle in the rural Sheridan area and two rear seat passengers were examining a .22-caliber derringer. The male victim did not suffer life-threatening injuries. The passengers were arrested by McMinnville police on drug charges.

Alisa Nice, one of five defendants in the Newberg Craigslist child sex case, took a polygraph exam to support her claim that she didn't know the girl she had videotaped sex with last April was underage. She passed it, too. The girl was actually only 14, Deputy District Attorney Lisl Miller told Judge John Collins at Nice's plea and sentencing hearing Monday.
A Yamhill County grand jury has indicted Donna Lepley, a former employee of Newberg's Johnson Furniture, on 15 charges stemming from her alleged embezzlement of more than $100,000 from the business over a four-year period.
Newberg-Dundee police served a narcotics search warrant Wednesday at 609 E. Franklin St., Newberg. Officers located five people in the residence, took three into custody and seized methamphetamine, marijuana, drug records, packaging material and scales.
