Willamina mourns loss of library cat

Jul 11, 2013

“She didn’t suffer,” Cindy said. “She got weaker and weaker and just decided to move on.”

The Lessicks laid Agie to rest on their rural Willamina property. It’s believed the cat was 17 or 18.

Agie found a home with the Lessicks after the City Council decided she could no longer live at the library.

Another cat in the Lessick household, Tuffy, bonded naturally with Agie. They became fast friends.

A community-wide sendoff for Agie was held in the library the day she moved into retirement with the Lessicks. It gave residents, especially children, the opportunity to show their affection.

She received gifts, including 24 cans of Fancy Feast cat food and a bag of cat goodies.

In addition, donations were accepted for her “PURRS” account.
