Wells Fargo ATMs to accept donations

In an effort to help the victims of the super-storm Sandy, Wells Fargo has programmed most of its domestic ATMS, including all in Yamhill County, to enable its customers to donate to the American Red Cross relief efforts. They will have until the end of the day Tuesday, Nov. 13.

There is no fee for the service. The bank said 100 percent of the funds will go to the Red Cross.

“The coming days and weeks are going to be difficult for those impacted by this devastating, historic storm and Wells Fargo wants to help,” said Don Pearson, Oregon regional president.

In addition, Wells Fargo itself is making a $1 million donation. It is contributing $250,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and $750,000 to nonprofits engaged in grassroots relief and recovery efforts.

“Our donation to the American Red Cross will help immediate relief efforts, while our donations to local nonprofit groups will support longer term efforts that will be needed in storm-hit communities and neighborhoods,” Pearson said.

Wells Fargo has three branches in Yamhill County. They are located at 1335 N.E. Baker St. in McMinnville, inside the Albertsons store at the south end of McMinnville, and at 601 E. First St. in Newberg. 

ENTERTAINMENT SCHEDULED

The University of Oregon group “On The Rocks,” recently featured on the reality show “The Sing-Off,” will perform at the  McMinnville Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual awards dinner. The dinner is set for 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in the McMinnville Community Center, 600 N.E. Evans St.

The event, focused around a sports theme, runs $35 per person. Dinner will be catered by the Rogue Gourmet Catering Company, holder of the community center contract.

VENUE CHANGE

The location has been changed for a McMinnville Area Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours event set for 5:15 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8. It has been moved from First Federal to La Bella Casa, 406 N.E. Third St.

The cost for members is $5 with reservations and $8 without. The cost for non-members is $10.

HAPPY HOUR

Through the end of December, a Friday Happy Hour will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at  4 Elements Yoga, 424 N.E. Fourth St. in downtown McMinnville.

Yoga classes will be free with a minimum donation of three canned or boxed goods for the Yamhill Community Action Partnership’s food bank in a program the owners are calling, “Feed your soul, feed your community.”

“We’re excited about this and really hoping it is a benefit for YCAP, with such a strong need for food, and that it gets more people to try out some yoga,” said co-owner Anna Barsotti.

The McMinnville Area Chamber of Commerce has a greeters set to run 8 to 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at the McMinnville Public Market, 755 N.E. Alpine Ave.

Newberg’s Chehalem Valley Chamber has one scheduled for 8 to 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Argyle Winery, 691 Highway 99W, Dundee.
