OTIS -- Two Canby residents were seriously hurt Satrurday when their car ran off Highway 18 and hit a tree, Oregon State Police said.
The 3:10 p.m. crash slowed traffic traveling to and from the coast.
Michael E. Moir, 58, was driving the Honda Accord toward the coast. Near Milepost 11, as he approached a left-hand curve, his right tires went onto the soft shoulder and the car traveled down a bank and hit the tree.
Moir and his passenger, Pamela Waite, 57, both were taken by ambulance to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital in Lincoln City. They later were transfered to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland.
Both victims had been using safety restraints. Police said their injuries are serious, but not life-threatening.
Moir was cited for failing to drive within his lane, state police said.
