The Yamhill County Sheriff's Office has recovered four ATVs and a motorcycle that were stolen from the Grand Ronde area in recent weeks.
Detectives and deputies went to 54515 Hebo Road, Grand Ronde, and 27805 Jahn Road in Polk Countty on Monday in search of the stolen vehicles. A sheriff's office representative said they spotted a vehicle matching the description of one seen in the area when the thefts occured.
The vehicle fled and crashed into a tree following a short pursuit. The suspect, Edward T. Bolton, 42, of 54515 Hebo Road, was seriously injured.
Bolton was taken by helicopter to Salem Providence Medical Center, where he is in intensive care.
The YCSO had received several tips that helped lead them to identification of the suspects and recovery of the stolen property. Sheriff Jack Crabtree said he appreciates the help from citizens.
"We are encouraging anyone who may have knowledge of other stolen items associated with the suspect to contact our office," Crabtree said.
