McMINNVILLE - McMinnville (5-3, 2-0) won its second straight 6A-Pacific Conference match, beating Forest Grove (4-3-1, 1-1) Thursday night at Wortman Stadium. The Grizzlies travel to Tigard (4-3-1, 1-0-1) tonight for a 7 p.m. match.
Seaside 5, Yamhill Carlton 1
SEASIDE - Yamhill-Carlton (0-8, 0-4) is still winless in after a road loss Thursday to Seaside (2-3-2, 1-1-2). Wednesday the Tigers will travel to Banks (2-5-1, 0-3-1) for another 4A-Cowapa League match. Game time is set for 4:15 p.m.
Dayton 1, Pleasant Hill 0DAYTON - Dayton (4-2-2, 2-1) tallied its second win in 3A/2A/1A Special District 3 play, shutting out Pleasant Hill (0-6-1, 0-2) Friday at home.
"We're getting more into a routine of playing together," Dayton coach Chuy Cruz said. "We had good momentum and we beat them like crazy with possession."
In spite of several scoring opportunities, Pirates' senior Pablo Vazquez scored the only goal of the match in the second half. One goal was enough in the end, but Cruz said his team needed to make the most of every chance.
"We need to focus on scoring now," Cruz said. "We've been creating lots of chances, but in the end it comes down to who capitalizes and who doesn't."
This week, the Pirates play at 4:15 p.m. Thursday at Blanchet Catholic in Salem (5-1-2, 2-0).
McMinnville 4, Forest Grove 0
FOREST GROVE - McMinnville (5-2-1, 1-1) bounced back from a 3-0 6A-Pacific Conference loss to Newberg by beating Forest Grove (4-2-2, 0-2) on the road Thursday.
Lucy Bellville marked the first two goals of the night, as well as an assist to Makayla Khatewoda on the fourth. Jazmin Rojas rounded out the scoring for the Grizzlies off an assist from Veronica Marquez.
"The girls played really well," McMinnville coach Adam Howard said. "They created lots of good chances and really capitalized on them."
The Grizzlies will host undefeated Tigard (7-0-1, 2-0) at 7:15 tonight at Wortman Stadium.
Amity 3, Jefferson 0
AMITY - Amity (3-4-1, 2-4-1) beat visiting Jefferson (0-8) Thursday in a 3A/2A/1A-Special District 3 match. The Warriors played Western Mennonite (8-1, 7-1) yesterday and will play Blanchet Catholic (2-6, 2-5) at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday in the final match of their three game home stand.
Seaside 2, Yamhill-Carlton 0
YAMHILL - Yamhill-Carlton (1-5-2, 0-3-1) is still looking for its first 4A-Cowapa League win after falling to Seaside (6-1-1, 3-1) Thursday at home. After six days off, the Tigers will host Banks (3-3-1, 1-2-1) at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday .
Creswell 1, Dayton 0
Dayton (5-4, 5-3) hosted Creswell (8-1, 8-0) Friday night in Newberg and dropped its third 3A/2A/1A Special District 3 match of the season. The Pirates played Jefferson (0-8) last night in Dayton and will travel to Western Mennonite (8-1, 7-1) Wednesday for a 4:15 p.m. match.
