Motorcyclist injured when he lays his bike down
May 3, 2013
A motorcyclist was injured Thursday afternoon when he laid his 2004 Harley-Davidson down to avoid rear-ending a vehicle, according to McMinnville police.
Sgt. Tim Symons identified the victim as Steve P. Farley, 60, of 16801 S.W. Masonville Road, McMinnville. He gave this account:
Farley was riding northbound in the 2100 block of N.E. Lafayette Ave. when he took evasive action to avoid crashing into a vehicle that was part of a line of vehicles.
He was transported by McMinnville Fire Department ambulance to the Cascade Steel Rolling Mills property and then flown by a Life Flight helicopter to Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. He was reported in serious condition.
The incident remains under investigation and no citations have been issued. Officers have not had an opportunity to interview Farley, Symons said.
