Homeless counts by district

Yamhill County’s seven school districts had 456 K-12 students who were identified as being homeless at some point during 2011-12, according to the state Department of Education.
Among the county’s total public school popuation of 16,438, some 2.77 percent were homeless. In addition, a dozen preschoolers in the county, six each in the McMinnville and Newberg school districts, were identified as homeless.
By district, 2011-12 homeless counts were:
Amity — 19 of 858 students, or 2.21 percent.
Dayton — 38 of 957, or 3.97 percent.
McMinnville — 119 of 6,490 students, or 1.83 percent, plus six preschoolers.
Newberg — 195 of 5,084, or 3.84 percent, plus six preschoolers.
Sheridan — 58 of 1,055, or 5.5 percent.
Willamina — 17 of 828, or 2.05 percent
Yamhill-Carlton — 10 of 1,166 students, or 0.86 percent.
