Former Mac family charged with Texas bank robbery

KATY, Texas — Fort Bend County sheriff’s detectives say three members of a family formerly of McMinnville are being held in connection with the Oct. 1 robbery of a bank in this suburb just west of Houston.

Ronald Scott Catt, 50, and his 20-year-old son, Hayden, were arrested Friday for holding up the First Community Credit Union.

Deputies said the two men dressed in orange construction vests, ball caps and dark glasses to execute the 1:45 p.m. robbery. The pair displayed pistols and left with a bag of cash, deputies said.

Catt’s daughter, Abigail, 18, wore a fake mustache and drove the getaway car, deputies said. She is also facing an aggravated robbery charge for her role in the incident.

The Catts lived in McMinnville from the 1990s until last year. Public records show that Ronald Catt applied for a marriage license in Yamhill County in 1998, listing himself as an engineer. He divorced two years later, after his wife was convicted of a domestic assault.

In early 2011, Catt was booked into Yamhill County Jail on charges of driving on a revoked or suspended license.

Both children were honor students at Duniway Middle School and heavily involved in competitive swimming with McMinnville Swim Club.

Hayden, who graduated from Mac High in 2010, also starred for the Grizzly swim team. He was a key contributor at state.

All three members of the family are being held in the Fort Bend County Jail. The father and son were booked on $140,000 bond each, the daughter on $100,000.

The Catts were arrested after a Texas crime stoppers program offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to apprehension of suspects.
