SHERIDAN A two-alarm fire destroyed a single-story home and a travel trailer Monday night.  Firefighters responded shortly after 11 to 320 N.W. Florence Street.

They encountered smoke and fire coming from the home. Two unidentified adults and their pets had evacuated the home. The American Red Cross was contacted on behalf of the residents and the homeowner.

A cause has not been determined. The Yamhill County Fire Investigation team continued its work Tuesday.

The blaze was brought under control in about 45  minutes, but firefighters remained on scene in a mop-up role.

Nine pieces of equipment and 25 responders from Amity, Sheridan and the West Valley Fire District (Willamina) were dispatched.
