Those NR file photos are three years old> At least one of those photos has been used every year for the past three Farmer's Markets. This has been a bit embarrassing for at least one of the people in these three pictures. Apparently, you do not need permission to use them as many times as you please.

I see nothing in any of the images that would be cause for embarrassment.

Dances...The pictures are not of you. At some point it is a matter of respect for the wishes of the photographed person after the first two times (seasons) they are ran. Seriously, as photogenic as these citizens are, and considering this is about Farmer's Market "Memories,"still the NR could be more creative than using the same one for the past three or four years, at least add to the archives. It's an invasion of privacy.

Next time you go to the Farmer's Market, bring your camera, snap some shots, then submit what you've judged as your best shot through the N-R's Valley Eye feature.

So much for the "invasion of privacy" statement. What was I thinking?

Every time I've ever taken a photo that I'd thought may be of interest to a newspaper, I've asked the person or persons in the capture if they were oK with it, whether or not the capture became published. I've always abided their wishes.

I am sure Marcus does the same.

Yes to a first print and an undetermined amount of reprints? I'm not sure that question is asked? Back to my original post.

Interesting to say the least. Many have wondered why the "Farmers Market" is not open to more people? As in having it on a weekend, during the day a lot of people work, who might have visited it. Although others have mentioned some of the pricing is also a tad high for their taste. Interesing point also about the pictures used over and over again. I wonder how many other people take pictures and post them on the internet etc. , but do not ask permission as "Dances with Redwoods" does. That is a good idea to get permission.
