SHERIDAN -- The Yamhill County Sheriff's Office says the report of a suspicious vehicle and driver on Ballston Road has turned out to be of no threat.

A family reported that a van was driving in the area in which a young girl was riding a motorcycle. They feared the driver might be trying to abduct the girl.

That wasn't the case.

After family members located the vehicle in McMinnville Saturday, deputies questioned the driver. It turns out he was in the Ballston Road area looking for boat parts and became lost. He later found the boat shop almost two miles from the home of the family that reported the potential threat.

The boat shop owner confirmed that the man had stopped by and made a purchase that day.

For more information, call Captain Tim Svenson of the  sheriff's office, at 503-434-7440.
