I might as well be the first 'nitpicker' or 'naysayer' to respond. But some things may be in need of clarification.

The reason people predict things not working, won't fly, etc. is quite simple -- we have walked this path before. Duh! Our government has wasted time, money, and effort on so many hair-brained ideas and projects the national debt could be non-existent. You see, some things just don't work out, but the difference is private money won't attempt many risky endeavors, but the government usually ignores the risk, at least the monetary risk. Other people's money, you know?

The hotel in Portland may be needed, but what wasn't said was the fact that the cost of the project is partially subsidized by taxpayer money. If this is such a needed addition (and will be profitable as stated), why are those such as the Hilton's not building it?

Politicians and leaders? None of ours may be evil, but if one takes money in campaign support (or other perks) for favorable legislation, then yes, they are corrupt. It used to be called bribes, but our society has forgotten what a bribe is, with all the 'political correctness' slathered about.

But these are just my opinions and observations, which may differ from others. That's life!
