A wicked wind storm blew over the Oregon coast and into western Oregon, knocking down trees in the McMinnville area early Sunday morning.

Falling trees crushed a car, a house and an apartment building, causing significant damage in McMinnville.

In spite of appearances, the Yamhill Valley did not clock any notable wind speeds, National Weather Service spokesman Rodger Nelson said.

A wind speed of 43 mph was recorded at the Vancouver, Wash. airport. Anything slower wasn’t written down, he said.

The storm should be the last for at least a week, Nelson said. Good weather is expected for the Thanksgiving weekend.
