Next Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the 600 block of Third Street, between Ford and Galloway streets, will be transformed into the Green Zone for Who’s on Third?

Part of downtown McMinnville’s portion of Turkey Rama, the venue will feature more than a dozen vendors. Booths will showcase the region’s best technologies, products and ideas in the areas of conservation, recycling and sustainability.

Visitors will be able to learn more about weatherization, energy-efficient windows, insulation, solar products, cost-saving lighting, recycling opportunities and products made from recycled material.

The lineup includes the Green Builders Guild, Cool Mac and Buy Local, The eBike Store, Recycled Waders, GBR Fencing and Decking, Jones Masonry, Itch & Scratch Insulation & Windows, C&D Landscape, Western Oregon Waste, Riverbend Landfill, NW Green Light, Total Comfort Weatherization, Solar Lightman and McMinnville Water & Light.

A solar panel mounted atop a hybrid car will power the compact fluorescent lights in the Water & Light booth, according to Wes Thomas, the utility’s key accounts manager.

Thomas, lead organizer for this year’s Green Zone, said Water & Light customers may be surprised to discover the many incentives available for insulating the floor, walls and attic, installing ductless heat pumps, replacing leaky windows and sealing porous air ducts. He urged people to take advantage of these opportunities now because the rebates end Oct. 1.

Rebates are available to cover the full cost for insulating most homes built before 1980; up to $2,375 for a ductless heat pump, plus $1,750 in state and federal tax credits; up to $12 per square foot for qualifying windows; and up to $750 for sealing and tightening work, which covers the full cost in most cases.

Festival hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Customers may sign up for the rebates at the Green Zone booth during those hours, or call Water & Light at 503-472-6158.
