CARLTON -- An early afternoon fire gutted the home occupied by the Assemby of God Church pastor, the Rev. Robert Marquis and his family.
Firefighters spent several hours at the residence controlling the blaze on Third Street, next to the church. The pastor will be staying with members of his congregation for the time being.
The fire broke out about 1 p.m. Tuesday. Shortly after that, Carlton and Yamhill firefighters also were called to the large blaze that destroyed a barn near Yamhill. Many other county fire departments helped with both efforts.
