CARLTON — Police arrested a suspect in the graffiti vandalism at the city pool and other areas of town Monday morning.

Ryan Braukman, 19, of Carlton was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Yamhill County Circuit Court. He was released on the condition that he live at home, stay away from city property and keep working.

Charged with two counts of second-degree burglary and multiple counts of second-degree criminal mischief, Braukman is due to return to court for a preliminary hearing on July 14.

Where are the "" coming from. I am only stating facts. You're quick to judge. Not all graffiti artists are criminals. He can still paint and draw graffiti in sketchbooks and pieces of scrapboard. It just can't be done on public or private property (which is vandalism, not art.) Where do you get that I am defending Ryan's "art" or his behavior? Where are my excuses for him? I'd like to know because I think that what he's doing is wrong. I'm glad he turned himself in and gets to suffer the consequences. It's too bad he couldn't have spent more days in jail. Maybe the military can whip him into shape? I'm glad you have such a great 5 year old. I'm sure s/he will make smart choices as s/he grows up. *not being sarcastic here. It's hard to read the "tone of voice" in online comments and I'm sorry if I take your words the wrong way.*

Wasn't "accusing" her of being related to him, just asking. A little sensitive I'd say. Love your comment that graffiti can be the work of "artists", whatever. Wow, there are a lot of "artists" around. They are criminals, thats it. You have some seriously selective reading abilities, as most of your retort has nothing to do with what I wrote, or seriously misread. I was not aware his mother made him turn himself in, kudos to her. I still believe he has a long way to go to be a productive member of society. Committing burglary to practice being an "artist" is a serious criminal act and he deserves all that is coming to him. Clearly you have first hand knowledge of this "artist" and are defending his "artwork", which is ridiculous. And by the way, he is not a "kid", he is an adult. Old enough to drive, buy cigarettes, serve his country, etc. I see some people making excuses for him, or trying to explain his behaviors, then saying they are not defending him. Classic enabling behavior. Period. Grow up Ryan, or you will stay a loser. You don't get many chances in life, and you just stacked the deck against you even more. In short, you better figure life out before you are 30, still practicing "artwork" on peoples property that you have clearly, no respect for, therefore, you don't deserve any respect from people in your community. Its reciprocal, respect, something my five year has figured out, but not you. Grow up "man", you are 19, not 12.

Jen is not related to Ryan. Maybe you should hold back on the accusations towards her post. Some kids do the wrong things despite their parent's upbringing to raise their children responsibly. So it's a bit unfair placing blame on the parents also. It was his mother that made him turn himself in. See: http://www.livepdx.com/news/19768570/detail.html#

So who should we blame? The kid, obviously. He is 19 - old enough to know that there will be consequences for his actions. Graffiti is not something only 13/14 year olds in gangs do. Graffiti artists can be any age, including adolescent teens and professional artists.

I am not making apologies or protecting Ryan, but it's not fair of you to assume that the other people who post comments and don't call this kid a "loser" are associated with him.

What is more immature and personal, a 19 year old whom apparently has nothing better to do that destroy and deface property, or someone who calls him what he is, a loser? When I was 19 I was not out spraying useless grafitti on property, I was in the military. Spraying graffiti is usually associated with pre/teens, not a 19 year old. So clearly he needs less time on his hands. Apparently you have not had your property destroyed by immature morons who think they have a right to do whatever they want. They seldom get caught, so it is immensely satisfying when said losers get nailed. No apologies from me on my comments. If Ryan wants to become a productive member of society he had better start acting like the adult he is, and learn some responsibility, as his mom and dad have failed in that regard. So now the busy courts get to take over and teach him what it is to have some respect and morals, probably futile at this point though. My neighbors had their 50k SUV tagged, my fence has been tagged numerous times, when I go to the park with my kids, the equipment is tagged with foul language and the ever present 13's and 14's from our useless wanna be gang bangers. People are sick of it. Stop making apologies for Ryan's criminal actions. You can bet this is not the first time this idiot has decorated the town as he saw fit. Are you related to him? If so, you are clearly an enabler and not what this guy needs. As far as the bullying comment, please, that is laughable in the light of his charges. Burglary, criminal mischief, not light charges. Glad he got caught, and am looking forward to his sentence. Hoping he gets a substantial and lenghty sentence with a heavy dose of community service, and some apology letters.

I am extremely disappointed that the comments people left are so immature and personal. . I am interested in the opinions and may even agree with them. However, it would be nice if people could comment on the topic and not make personal attacks and insults.

Neither one of the previous comments do anything but showcase an inability to communicate in a mature manner. It is the same verbal agression that is linked with bullying.

Yes, bad idea to tag the pool and other city areas.
Yes, based soley on information in article, sounds like a good agreement was reached by both parties.

Ryan, if you want to color have your mommy buy you a coloring book from Walmart.
The community does appreciate your criminal acts, nor do we like to look at them. What is it, teen angst, cry for attention? You got dude, hows a nice slice of penal codes.
Hope you have fun cleaning.
