A job fair showcasing the 200 openings that need to be filled by the Allison Inn & Spa when it opens this fall in Newberg is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Joan Austin Elementary School, 2200 N. Center St. in Newberg.
New staff positions, always welcome in a tight economy, are the first vacancies any new hotel must fill, said General Manager Pierre Zreik. “The Allison Inn & Spa is no exception,” he said.
The Allison is looking to fill positions in the inn, restaurant and spa all three. It needs front desk personnel, restaurant and bar service staffers, aestheticians for the spa, and kitchen and maintenance workers.
A full list of position may be downloaded at www.theallison.com or requested at jobs@theallison.com.
“As Oregon’s first luxury wine country property, The Allison represents a great opportunity for individuals who want to be part of a new team dedicated to exceeding guests’ expectations,” Zreik said.
“On top of the economic benefit to the Newberg area, these newly created jobs also will help adjacent communities such as Portland, McMinnville, Salem, Beaverton and Hillsboro. Commuters who reside in these towns will likely take their earnings home to support local business.”
In addition to on-site jobs, Zreik said The Allison is employing hundreds of behind-the-scenes craftsmen to create window treatments, custom rugs, one-of-a-kind furnishings and decorative light fixtures.
Once the resort complex opens, communities in and around Newberg will see an increase in spending by thousands of guests frequenting the area to visit its 200-plus wineries, he said. Many will prolong their opportunity to dine, shop and enjoy nearby attractions, including the aviation museum, the casino, local golf courses and world-class gardens and nurseries.
Additionally, he said, the complex will draw visitors for weddings and meetings.
The Allison Inn & Spa is the first luxury development catering specifically to the Oregon Wine Country. It is the only property in the state affiliated with Preferred Hotels & Resorts’ Boutique Collection.
Scheduled to open in September, it will feature 85 deluxe guest rooms.
There also will be suites on the 35 acres, with gardens and walking paths.

It’s a great news that Allison Inns is starting its business. To the middle class people like me who have lost our jobs and struggling hard to survive during the time of recession, the news is a flash of hope! On the other hand for all those rich upper class people its great news because they have got another way to spend their money!
