Vandals sprayed the Carlton pool building walls just after city crews finished repainting them light blue.

Graffiti vandals sprayed the swimming pool locker room, park and pool signage and other items in upper park some time last week, city officials said.
The vandalism occurred after workers finished repainting the interior of the pool building June 2, they said.
"We're finding it everywhere - on garbage cans, on the back of the 'Drug-free Zone' sign," said City Administrator Steven Weaver.
The pool, due to open in time for Carlton's June 26-27 Fun Days celebration, was also vandalized last fall, just after closing for the season. Adolescent girls broke into the pool enclosure and sank the heavy cover that keeps debris out of the water.
Weaver said the city is hoping someone noticed the vandals at work. He said they must have been at it for a while, because they used at least five colors of paint in the locker room.
Other graffiti was written with markers. Anyone with any potentially relevant information can call Carlton City Hall and the police department at 503-852-7575.

How could this be possible? What do they want for the city? An inflatable pool? Those vandals sure want to send a message, something like: "we're not civilized, thus we don't need a nice pool". I hope they get the guys and force them into community service for pool cleaning.

I know how time consuming it is to clean up after the misguided hooligans as my grandfather who has owned a business in town for 50 years constantly has to have us out to pressure wash and paint over the concrete walls of his warehouse due to the lack of respect shown by the town's youth.

I wonder what are the securities of the pool are doing!! I’m a regular visitor of this pool and I’ve seen what the vandals have done to the beautiful newly painted walls. It’s so annoying.

Where is the police? I don’t think it’s a very tough job to catch the vandals. But frankly speaking , in this picture, he graffiti’s are not looking so bad in the wall…if I were the authority , I would not going for paint again!

Carlton City pool is really a great place and after Austin pool I would like to go there. This is the place where i would like to go most and I have visited many other pools but the best one is above mentioned.

Where were the Police? Carlton is a pretty small town, you would think the police would be able to catch the suspects in the act. And the Pool is pretty much across the street from the Police Department.

crush is sort of right most people who write graffiti write it for fame to get known by graffiti (not all but most) so by having pictures gives them bragging rights and makes them feel even better because they are being recognized. If these kids get caught they are just going to get community service and a fine nothing even to bad.

Ms. Walker is right. Hopefully someone will step forward and they can nail the fools whom thought this was a clever idea. They should give them one of those tiny artist paintbrushes to paint over their stupid looking graffiti.

Just put a camera up with a movement sensor. They are not that expensive now. Have it out of sight and do not broadcast that it is there. Perps caught in the act. If I was the person with the warehouse I would do the same.

I respectively disagree with those who believe that putting the information on a criminal activity in the paper will give the perpertrators "bragging rights." I believe that highlighting the crime in the newspaper gives it well-deserved attention which can help solve the crime and, hopefully, stop the vandalism from happening in the future. At the least, if the vandals are caught and convicted with the help of the regional publicity, they will likely have to reimburse the city for the damage and maybe perform some community service as well. Possibly, from that, they could learn how to help their community through volunteerism, rather than vandalism.

I not only agree with the post concerning the attention needed by "taggers". Its not only sad that the kids don't have anything better to do with their time right at the beginning of the summer but its also sad that their talent and energy could be put to good use. If they enjoy painting so much why don't they go around offering to paint some houses in town and make some money! I know how time consuming it is to clean up after the misguided hooligans as my grandfather who has owned a business in town for 50 years constantly has to have us out to pressure wash and paint over the concrete walls of his warehouse due to the lack of respect shown by the town's youth.

Mostly it seems kids use graffiti to get attention. Does it seem counter-productive to anyone else that the picture of the graffiti is in the paper? Now the little dears not only have bragging rights on the wall, but also in the paper. Might be better to leave the picture of the damage out of the news and put in a nice picture of how it looks without the damage. Just a suggestion.
