DAYTON -- Longtime school supporter Vera Sullivan and 16-year school board member Rick Kamanskis were named Dayton Education Citizens of the Year at Saturday's Dayton High School graduation ceremony.
The school district annually honors citizens for their contributions to children, education and the community.
Sullivan, widow of longtime coach Dewey Sullivan, was honored for more than four decades of dedication to Dayton. The capacity crowd gathered for graduation greeted her with a prolonged standing ovation.
They also applauded Kamanskis, who served on the school board from 1993 until recently.
